Workplace Wellness with Lycored
In the last 10 years increasing physical activity and supporting healthy eating in the workplace has became very important. Emotional and mental fitness also play an important role in worker’s productivity. Positive mental health is a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her potential. When an employee feels valued and values themself, they can cope with normal stresses. This can also increase work productivity. In the workplace there can be no health without mental health.
Yoga can help the well-being in the workplace and provide tools for employees to combat stress. Yoga can reduce employee turnover, promote employee alertness, increase productivity, and improve overall health. Even just 30 minutes of yoga two days a week is enough to change your mindset. Every company should find a way to help employees develop a healthy way to combat stress in the workplace; and let them know how much they mean to the company by providing them with the break they need to be more productive at work and in life.

I recently taught a workplace wellness class for Lycored which is an amazing company who focuses solely on the health and well being of their employees. Lycored was founded in 1995 when they launched their first product, Lyc-O-Mato®, and immediately became a leader in the research and development of carotenoid-based products. They supply the good stuff from tomatoes more or less that help our bodies in so many ways. Carotenoids are the tiny pigments that give fruits, veggies, and other organisms their vibrant hues. The human body cannot manufacture them, making supplementation and dietary incorporation a necessity.
Everyone who works for Lycored always has a smile on their face and support each other as a team. You can really feel how well they are taken care of from the top down. From healthy food in their kitchen, to awesome workshops and special events. They makes sure they help everyone stay healthy and happy.
Recently they had me come in and teach some chair yoga to their staff. We went through a series of poses such as high altar side leans, ankle to knee pose, eagle arms, wrist work and even face stretches. Most of them were amazed at how many things they could actually do in a chair. We did an hour of chair yoga and meditation and everyone felt great afterwards. I loved the energy in the room. The chair yoga poses really help the employees relax and get there head in the game for the day and week ahead.
I wish every company focused on workplace wellness as much as Lycored does. I love bringing yoga in to the workplace and I hope more and more corporations will catch on and soon it will be something everyone does to help them feel better, perform better and take better care of themselves.
