Vionic’s Walkabout Challenge
One of my most favorite things about living in New York City is the ability to walk everywhere. I often throw Timothy in the bjorn and walk as far as 25 blocks! Walking is a daily part of my lifestyle and even just getting to and from the subway, a client’s home, or to Central Park, requires a good walk. Walking clears my mind and makes me feel happy and alive. I like to walk briskly and with a purpose. I also like to take long leisurely walks (which definitely happen when Timothy is walking with me!). Walking is one of the easiest ways to be healthy, it’s free, you can be any age and any size, and it feels good. Walking feels even better when you have good shoes to walk in.
Vionic shoes come with an Orthaheel Technology that helps alleviate foot pain and realign the lower-legs for better balance and posture. Vionic’s are ideal for daily fitness walking and for going out on the town. They come in athletic styles and also cute flats, boots and sandals. “Walking is what your body is designed to do. It strengthens almost every major organ in the body, promotes bone density, and boosts the immune system,” says Dr. Andrew Weil (A Vionic Spokesperson) “There’s no special skill, training or equipment needed, just the right footwear.”
I was shocked to hear that according to a study by the American Podiatric Medical Association, 72 percent of Americans say they do not exercise because foot pain prevents them from doing so. It’s so important to have a pair of shoes that fit well, have good arch support, are lightweight and have a flexible sole. I also believe aches and pains dissipate when we get up and get moving. Vionic’s annual walkabout starts February 1st and it’s a great way to get inspired to start walking, or keep walking, every day. The challenge encourages people to walk (for as little as 30 minutes even) every day for 30 days. February is National Heart Health month, so what better way to get the blood pumping and our hearts beating.
