The Power of the Magic Circle in Pilates
If you’re looking to strengthen your core and pelvis, improve your posture, and increase your flexibility, give Pilates a try! It also emphasizes the mind and body connection, so if you’re a fan of yoga Pilates would definitely be a great option for you.
I love to change up my Pilates practice by using resistance tools. On of my favorites is the Magic Circle. It is so easy to incorporate into your workouts and has a variety of benefits.
Improved Balance and Coordination:
The Magic Circle is a secret weapon when it comes to enhancing balance and coordination. As a versatile tool, it introduces an element of instability to exercises, forcing the body to engage stabilizing muscles. The challenge of maintaining balance while using the Magic Circle not only intensifies the workout but also improves the body’s ability to sense its position in space. This heightened awareness contributes to better overall balance and coordination.
Targeting Specific Muscle Groups:
What sets the Magic Circle apart is its ability to hone in on specific muscle groups with precision. Whether it’s the inner and outer thighs, the arms, or the core muscles, the resistance provided by the Magic Circle ensures targeted activation. This focused engagement allows you to isolate and strengthen particular areas, addressing muscle imbalances and enhancing overall muscle tone.
Increased Intensity of Your Workouts:
Pilates is known for its controlled, deliberate movements, and the Magic Circle adds a layer of resistance. By squeezing or pressing the Magic Circle between the hands, legs, or other body parts, you can intensify the challenge of traditional Pilates exercises. This increased resistance not only promotes muscle strength but also adds a cardiovascular element, making the workout more dynamic.
A key objective of Pilates is to encourage optimal body alignment and posture, and the Magic Circle is a helpful tool for achieving this goal. As the ring is incorporated into various exercises, it encourages the activation of postural muscles, particularly those supporting the spine. The resistance provided by the Magic Circle helps to engage the core muscles and maintain proper spinal alignment throughout movements. Over time, this promotes healthy and pain-free posture in your daily life.
If you don’t already have one, order your Magic Circle ASAP! For tips on how to use it, check out my Instagram @kristinmcgee for demos and advice on how to elevate your Pilates workouts with this awesome tool.
