“The Perfect Combination to Combat Seasonal Affective Disorder”, Guest Blog Post by Jim Lavalle

XB78WQK09O With the colder SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) months approaching, the combination of yoga for stress management and a targeted, weight management system can help ward off winter blues. Seasonal affective disorder is a type of depression that’s related to changes in seasons. The Mayo Clinic cites specific warning signs that you may be suffering from SAD including mood swings, craving high-carb foods, and low energy, all of which lead to weight gain.

As a metabolic expert, I recommend various tools you can use to winterize your body and survive the season without the weight gain. Phase 2 white kidney bean extract reduces the digestion and absorption of starch in carb-loaded foods without significantly affecting essential nutrients and with no side effects. I specifically recommend Phase 2 because it is the only white kidney bean extract backed by numerous clinical studies for efficacy. In a double-blind, 123-participant study published in Obesity, participants taking Phase 2 lost an average of seven pounds in 12 weeks, in addition to significant loss of body fat compared to the placebo group. Furthermore, 73.5 percent of participants maintained their body weight for 24 weeks and reported decreased desire for sugary foods. Phase 2 can be found in numerous carb-blocking nutritional supplements.

Additional techniques to winterize your body against SAD include developing an exercise routine that includes yoga or meditation and developing a solid sleep schedule that syncs to sunrise and sunset. Yoga has survived for thousands of years for a very good reason: it offers a number of benefits that other exercises do not. In addition to helping with weight loss, yoga is excellent for stress management and provides mental benefits like improved concentration and reduced stress and improved mood. Sleeping is vital for weight management because when we don’t sleep, we start to become more insulin resistant and experience changes in the hunger hormone that makes us crave high-carb foods.

Finally, remember to get a blood test. It is the only way to confirm the presence of high blood sugar in the body and first step to best protect yourself against seasonal affective disorder.
