Staying Hydrated This Summer
Summer is definitely one of my favorite seasons! I love the longer days, doing yoga outdoors, running around outside with my boys, and going to the beach. Being in the sun, and keeping active during the hottest months of the year, means I have to make sure my boys and I are staying properly hydrated.
A lot of people think the only way to stay hydrated is to drink a ton of water, but the kinds of water and food you consume can also make a difference. There have been a number of growing trends this year that have made their way to the water industry. Here are a few ways to help you feel energized and hydrated all summer long!
Tips To Stay Hydrated
Water (and lots of it!)
Drinking plenty of water remains the #1 way to stay hydrated in the summer. Choose water (instead of soda) during airplane flights on your way to vacation, and on overly hot days. I find drinking a big glass of water first thing in the morning helps me start my day off right. Carry a reusable water canister with you to refill when you can.
High Ph Waters (UBR!)
If you’re going to reach for bottled water, Ubr water is my favorite! Ubr has a high pH level of +7 to give you the key elements that help restore and balance the body. Ubr also contains electrolytes and it’s my favorite tasting water, it just has a nice smooth taste.
Enhanced Waters & Iced Teas
Oki’s is one of the newest innovations in the water biz. They make sure not only their waters are packed with hydrating nutrients but they also put them in iced teas! This way you can enjoy a cold brewed tea while getting hydrated at the same time. These Flavored Waters are made with 20mg of broad spectrum, non-psychoactive active hemp extract to ensure you feel refreshed and revitalized. The waters come in different flavors: cucumber, cranberry, and watermelon and regular still water. I like to have one before bed to get the calming effects of the CBD. Oki is also plant-based and vegan.
Chlorophyll Water
Chlorophyll Water is the newest trend in water! It’s a purified water beverage that is enhanced by nature with the addition of Chlorophyll, the key ingredient and vital green pigment in plant life. Chlorophyll adds Vitamin A, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C and Vitamin D to the water and aids in hydration.
HFactor Water
HFactor, hydrogen-infused water favorited by NFL players and Hollywood A-listers, all swearing by the hydrating effects. The water increases athletic performance, reduces inflammation, and delivers powerful antioxidants.
O2 Water
O2 Oxygenated Natural Recovery drink was created by a CrossFit trainer and a medical doctor who were sick of unhealthy sports and energy drinks. With 2.5X more electrolytes than leading sports drinks, only 20 calories and ZERO added sugar, O2 is modeled after the original IV bag and is infused with oxygen. It energizes and helps the body process toxins because it has 7x more oxygen than regular tap water.
Don’t Forget foods
While drinking water is the main way most people stay hydrated, certain low fiber, water-packed fruits, and veggies hydrate the body just as effectively as water. There are a number of different foods that can help keep you hydrated. Here are the most hydrating foods that are easy to add to any picnic or lunch this summer to stay cool and refreshed.
- Watermelons
- Cucumbers
- Bananas
- Strawberries
- Milk
- Spinach
- Iceberg lettuce
- Radishes
