How to Regain a Balanced System

In a fast-paced world, many of us have a hard time finding time for ourselves. This is especially true of mothers. The “mommy club” is one of the most exciting things that a woman can be a part of, however, it can also be one of the most challenging.

All the sudden we are in charge of the care of this little creature who demands our full attention. Sleep deprived, and exhausted, we may not take care of ourselves the way that we once did. Days become weeks, and weeks become months until we finally come out of the new mama fog, and decided to take the steps to reclaim our health.

The first steps that many new moms take will be related to losing the baby weight. While this is important, it is not necessarily the most important step for your health. Healing, and recovery from a catastrophic body event (such as child birth) demands a regime that starts on the inside.

Waging War

It is no secret that the human body is super complex. Inside of us there is more commotion going on than any mega metropolitan area. Luckily the body is equipped with the best warriors on the planet, and if taken care of, these warriors have no problem defending your body 24/7. However, what many people don’t realize is that they may be undermining their body’s defenses daily, making them more prone to illness, chronic disease, weight gain, skin problems, bloating, constipation, and more.

Defining the Undermine

One of the most important defense our body has is gut health. The good bacteria in our body is one of the most under appreciated aspects of our balanced health. Without it we open ourselves up to the host of issues as mentioned, and no one wants that. So how do we keep good gut health? The first step is to stop undermining our body and consuming foods that destroy good gut bacteria.

So Simple, Yet So Hard

Many of us know that we should eat healthy. However, “eating healthy” is a broad description that doesn’t give us much to go on. All food is not created equal. On one end of the spectrum we have the pre-packed sludge that could wreak havoc on good gut bacteria; on the other end of the spectrum are more wholesome, real food options that are nature made, not test tube made.

While the natural, organic foods are definitely the way to go to improve our digestive balance and overall health, with the fact that our environment is so toxic laden, this solution is not a “fix-all” approach.

Foods (even real, organic foods) are just not as nutritious as they once were. An apparent reason is that the soil is depleted, which leaves less nutrients for any plant grown, or animal raised. Add that to the bombardment of chemicals that makes its way into the water and even foods grown in the right manner can have less nutrients available, and contain trace amounts of chemicals that can kill off good bacteria.

Therefore, finding a good quality probiotic is so important. By supplementing good bacteria into the system daily, moms, dads, or anyone, can benefit from a cleaner and better functioning body and mind.
