Portion Control Plates and Dishware
When it comes to eating, I don’t really follow any of the fad, or trendy diets such as, gluten-free, paleo, vegan, etc. I think those diets are great for people with allergies, or who feel like it works best for their lifestyles, but they’re just not for me. I don’t want to be restricted by what I can and can’t eat, it gets confusing and sounds stressful. A lot of people ask me how I stay in shape without dieting. The answer is, I eat all things in moderation. I listen to my gut and eat when I’m hungry. I don’t eat because I’m bored/stressed/anxious, or simply because it’s time to eat – I eat because my stomach is telling me it needs fuel. Also, I eat until I am comfortably full and content, but never to the point where I’m too full and then feel nauseous and bloated.
It’s really all about moderation and I’ve used my yoga practice to really help me manage my diet. Yoga is centering and grounding and helps us get in touch with our bodies. Yoga has allowed me to connect more closely with my own body, which has allowed me to able to read what my body needs – like when I’m hungry, when I need more veggies, or more meat.
Eating in moderation now comes naturally to me, but when starting out it can be hard to even decipher how much we should be eating. For those who need a little help with portion control, I love the idea behind the new portion control dining ware that has come out recently. Portion control plates & bowls take any question out of “how much should I be eating” and makes it simple. Here are some of the top portion control dining ware out there:
- Livliga’s brand new dinnerware collection, Celebrate! This line is designed to transform the way we eat by positively impacting our mood and sense of satisfaction. Celebrate dining ware is portion controlled and is designed with positive affirmations.
- Slimware to help make healthy New Year’s resolutions easier. Slimware portion-controlled plates helps limit food intake to help develop healthier long-term eating habits and help stop unknowingly super-sizing your meals. Instead of counting calories and weighing your food, now you can simply use your eyes to limit your portions. The plate design doubles as a guide to vegetable/carb/protein portion sizes.
3. 21 Day Fix Containers: This is more of a program for those who need a bit extra support. The containers are color coded to correspond with different types of foods and the kit comes with a guide to help you figure out how many of each type of food you should be eating each day.
4. ECOlunch Boxes: I’ve saved the best for last because ECOlunch Boxes are some of my favorites! I’m a big fan of the ECOlunch Box brand because they are environmentally and socially responsible. Their innovative, non-toxic reusable food packing containers are truly the best quality on the market! Several ECOlunchbox containers are designed to fit three food groups, such as the ECOlunchbox Three in One, Trio Bento and stainless steel divided trays! Pack each of the three sections with a different food type and cover all bases nutritionally. These are great for portion-control-watchers on the go!
What’s great is that all of these portion controlled dining ware sets are different and there’s something for everyone. No matter which portion controlled collection, or regular dining ware you use, though – one trick I can give you is to fill your plate up with veggies!
