My Favorite Snacks To Fuel Me Up!

As a busy mom, I am doing a variety of things all day every day. Each morning I wake up, feed the boys a healthy breakfast, and take them to school. I often go right to teaching classes, working out, or working on class plans.

I do not always have time to fuel my body with a full-on meal. It’s important to keep my body fueled with healthy and delicious snacks. I want something protein-packed to get me through the day.

Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Our bodies use protein to build and repair tissues. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood. I find when I add protein to every meal, my blood sugar stays steady and I am not as hungry throughout the day.

Morning Snack:

Midway through the morning, I like like to grab a peanut butter crunch protein bar. I like to add as much protein as I can for a morning snack so it keeps me fueled longer. I like the Naked Peanut Butter Crunch bar. Made with premium grass-fed whey protein, almond butter, peanut butter, and monk fruit juice. Each bar contains 15g of protein, only 8g of sugar, and only 190 calories.  The best part is that I can pronounce everything in the bar. Naked Bars are easy to stash in my backpack or purse, and I love to travel on long road trips or plane rides with them.

Afternoon Snack:

I usually find that around 3 pm is when my mind and body both need a little boost to get me to dinner time. I like to grab another high-protein snack just before I pick the boys up from school. My go-to afternoon snack is a high-protein smoothie. One of my favorite protein powders is Naked Nutrition Naked Shake. I use chocolate or Vanilla depending on the day and my mood.  Naked Shake has 20g of protein and only 5g of sugar.

Go-to Smoothie Recipe:

Vanilla Protein Shake

Whole Milk or almond milk: A great base for the smoothie

Vanilla extract: Make sure you use the real, natural stuff (preferably organic) and not anything artificial.

Banana: This gives your smoothie a rich and creamy consistency. It is also a great source of potassium and dietary fiber.

Honey:  I recommend using one that is 100% pure, raw, and unfiltered

Ice: This helps thicken the shake.

*Blend all together and enjoy!

If you notice you need a little pick me up throughout the day, try reaching for protein snacks. You will definitely notice a boost in energy and a reduced need for unhealthy snacking. What is your favorite protein-sourced snack?
