Manicure on the Run!
My days lately mainly consist of rushing around from client to client, to class, to getting some time in with Timothy and somehow running daily errands in-between. My life has always been a bit hectic and that multiplied x2 when I had Timothy! I love all the things my career has allowed me to do and the unconventional schedule, but it gets tough to fit in those nice leisure activities that I used to enjoy. For example, getting my nails done!
It’s amazing how something as simple as having perfectly manicured nails can just perk your mood up, but finding time to do it is the tough part. The truth of the matter is, these days if I have a free 30min I’d much rather spend it with Timothy, than sitting in front of a stranger staring awkwardly as she polishes my nails. Luckily, I’ve come up with this great trick to paint my nails myself and have them look like salon painted nails!
Here’s my “secret” manicure trick:
1) Start by applying a clear base coat to your nails.
2) Then start in on the color. Here’s the fun part – don’t worry about staying in the lines! Go wild! OK, maybe not completely wild, but don’t worry so much about painting perfect nails.
3) Add a top coat and let them dry! Prepare something you can do while they dry. For example, it’s an ideal time to stretch, or practice some yoga & core strengthening moves; just make sure to lay out your mat BEFORE you paint your nails!
4) Go about your day and life and wash your hair the next morning/evening. Really lathering in the shampoo. Give your scalp a nice relaxing massage and…
See it’s magic! The soap from the shampoo will completely wash away any of the polish that you got around your cuticles. If you’re not washing your hair anytime soon, just soak your nails with soap in some hot water for a few minutes.
I’d love to hear from you – what’s your “on the go” beauty secret!?! Go on and try my manicure trick and let me know if it works for you!
