Get Healthy at Home: Top Exercise Tips for People Who Hate Going to the Gym
It’s estimated almost 2 billion people worldwide are overweight. A shocking statistic, the need for healthy eating and exercise has never been more urgent.
But that’s much easier said than done, as millions consistently struggle to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regime. One of the main reasons for this is gym intimidation, with a huge 75% of women admitting they’d love to exercise more but are worried about being judged in the gym by others. So, if you’re put off going to the gym because you feel intimidated, you certainly aren’t alone!
But luckily, the world of exercise doesn’t revolve around the gym and there are a huge number of ways you can get moving from the comfort of your own home. So, if you’d like to drop a few pounds without the hassle of going to a sweaty gym, here are some top exercise tips you can try!
Get some home equipment
One of the main advantages of going to the gym is the huge variety of equipment you’ll have access to. From cardio machines to free weights, the gym has a lot to offer but, provided you’ve got the motivation to do so, you can easily purchase some inexpensive gym-style equipment for your home!
If losing weight is your goal, it’s best to start with cardio then, when you start to get leaner, weight exercises for toning can come into play. But, to start your exercise journey, opting for a piece of equipment like a Sole F80 Treadmill will be a great place to start. Simple to use and durable, this treadmill is ideal for those with little exercise experience looking to develop their knowledge and lose weight. As far as equipment goes, I also LOVE the Pilates Power Gym, it’s an at home reformer and makes Pilates accessible to everyone. You definitely get results with the Pilates Power Gym.
Videos
From the vast workout videos available on Youtube to fitness DVD’s, there’s a huge array of options you can watch and follow. Better still, following a workout video will make you feel like you’re exercising with another person – clinically proven to be a great motivator!
Dependent on which type of exercises you’re looking to do, most DVD’s have various programs and options to choose from, giving you the freedom to only do what you’re comfortable with and work up the intensity when you feel ready to do so.
Be realistic
When working out from home, you’ll have much more flexibility than if you were to go to the gym. Because of this, it can be tempting to exercise every day.
But, if you’re not used to exercising, it’s super important to pace yourself otherwise you could injure yourself. Start with working out twice a week and be sure to stop if you feel uncomfortable or unwell at any stage.
It’s totally normal to feel intimidated by the gym, but this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t exercise at all! By establishing which type of exercise is best for your goals and purchase equipment accordingly, you’ll achieve just as much success as you would if you were in the gym!
