I think one of the best gifts anyone can give a new mother is a meal! As a new mom of twins, who also has a three year old toddler, getting healthy food in my belly is quite challenging. I’m always holding a baby, or playing, or cleaning up, or doing something. I am also quite hungry and need good nutrients to keep up with the demands of breastfeeding.

I recently discovered Provenance Meals, an organic meal delivery service, and I am in heaven! Provenance is 100% gluten-free and dairy-free. All protein and organic produce comes from local farms. When you sign up you can choose omnivore or vegetarian options. Nutrition experts create the meals and the menu changes weekly. I chose the omnivore plan and had them deliver early mornings. Two days worth of food comes every other day, so it’s super fresh.

They sent me bone broth and sesame ginger granola bars since I’m a nursing mom. I’m in love with the granola bars and it’s my first time trying bone broth. Bone broth is beneficial for everyone; but especially for pregnant women to build healthy babies. Provenance meals bone broth is long simmered with organic vegetables and grass fed beef bones from Lancaster County, PA farmers. Bone broth is rich in minerals, gelatin & collagen, aids joints, and is a good source of amino acids (the building blocks of protein). It can even assist with nausea. For breastfeeding moms, bone broth makes a great snack to deliver extra boost of much needed nutrient-dense calories.

The Sesame Ginger granola bars are packed with protein and healthy fats from cashews, sesame seeds, and flaxseeds, and provide a satisfying and filling snack for moms. Flaxseeds in particular are great source of plant-based omega 3 fatty acids. Sweetened only with wildflower honey, these heart-healthy bars contain zero refined sugars.

Both the bone broth and granola bars are available as add-ons to the meal plans. I honestly feel like it’s Christmas morning when the meals come and I get to see the beautiful presentations and tasty, filling food I get to eat.

My biggest problem is finding the time to shop, prep, cook and eat. With Provenance they do it all for me; and I feel so taken care of. I am also slowly changing the way I eat and kinds of foods I eat. I often stick to the same things over and over again when I’m on my own. Today I had a Japanese sweet potato for the first time ever for lunch and ate grass fed meatballs for dinner. I rarely eat red meat and these tasted so good.

Breakfast is a huge treat for me varying from homemade frittatas, to granola and brazil nut milk, to orange marmalade chia pudding. I usually just make a bowl of oatmeal every day. I love the variety I have with Provenance, and noticing how my taste buds perk up with new flavors.
