Mix My Own–Healthy Customized Breakfast Cereal!
I am such a huge fan of breakfast, I love it! I think breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. One of my favorite things is cereal with 2% plain greek yogurt and berries. So many commercial cereals are loaded with artificial sweeteners or ingredients you can’t pronounce. I usually create my own by using raw oats or fiber one and adding raw walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds and cinnamon. Now that baby Timothy is here, my mornings can be quite hectic and making my little concoction is often times interrupted. I was SO excited when I discovered www.mixmyown.com, an awesome site where you can create your own healthy breakfast cereal to suit your needs and tastes. You will never have to dig through a box of cereal again to find your favorite morsels or to remove things you don’t like.
MixMyOwn allows you to choose your base, anything from light whole grain granola to organic gluten free oats. Next you add your base ingredients if you wish, kamut puffs or mulitgrain millet flakes are some choices just to name a few. Third step is your fruits, I added freeze dried raspberries and blueberries to my bendigirl breakfast mix. There are so many options, even mulberries! Fourth step is where you can add your seeds and nuts. I love how each ingredient on all pages has an explanation of it’s benefits and nutrition profile. Finally you can add your fun extras such as marshmallow bits, vanilla bean, organic fruity hearts, protein powder or matcha tea powder are just a few examples.
MixMyOwn because they are highly committed to helping consumers have healthy snack and breakfast options. There’s over 100 nutritious, all-natural, organic, unprocessed, no sugar, no preservatives, and Non-GMO ingredients to choose from. I think it’s a brilliant idea and can make for some awesome stocking stuffers and gifts this holiday season. There are also some pre made mixes on the site you can choose from or that help you get some inspiration when making your own. I think the Fitness and Antioxidant mix both sound delicious, as do all of them.
My bendigirl breakfast mix starts with gluten free oats then I added freeze dried strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, walnuts, flax seed, soy protein powder, cinnamon and vanilla bean. It is scrumptious! Now when I wake up and am trying to nurse Timothy or have only one hand free; I can easily pour my pre made cereal, add some greek yogurt and voila, breakfast is served! You can order yours here and wake up to an awesome breakfast as well.
