Best Prenatal Fitness Apparel
I recently worked on a campaign for a new maternity fitness line for Hatch and Bandier. I really liked working with the entire team at Hatch, and I think the fitness world needs more pregnancy friendly apparel. People ask me all of the time what do I wear for workout gear when expecting. I’ve found some really great maternity specific brands that I love, as well as some of my all time favorite brands that work when you buy one size up. Below are some of my favorite pieces for moms to be:
FitBump–This company makes tanks I really like. The tanks have ruching on the side that really make the bump look cute! I like the fit, the style and the comfort of these tanks a lot. The tanks fit true to your pre-pregnancy size (I got xs and they fit perfectly) My only problem is, I wish they came in more colors. FitBump is also a great resource or active mamas.
Seraphine–Seraphine is a British Maternity brand (they ship everywhere), that Princess Kate is a huge fan of; and they make very stylish clothing for mamas. They also make one of my favorite pairs of leggings. I love their dresses and tops for every day wear; but the leggings are good for both yoga class and running around town. You can choose over or under the bump, I like over the bump because it just feels more supportive; but I imagine both are great. I also think under the bump might work for post pregnancy as well and you could just invest in a belly band for support above if you really wanted to. Seraphine also just launched a Sports Kit for mamas! The kit comes with a nursing sports bra, active tank, workout pants and a headband all packed in a cute drawstring sports bag. All for under $100 this is awesome!
Hatch–A super stylish brand that makes clothing for before, during and after pregnancy, just launched an active wear line. I was so honored to be involved in the campaign. I particularly love Hatch’s sports bras, they are super supportive without being too tight or constrictive. I like the style, fit and functionality of the bras, they can be worn for yoga, barre, Pilates, cardio and strength training. I know this bra will last me way beyond my pregnancy as well.
Ingrid & Isabel–This brand makes one of THE BEST pairs of maternity leggings. The leggings have a unique cross over panel that keeps them up over the bump nicely. I swear by these! Ingrid & Isabel also makes a seamless tank that’s comfy and cute. It’s always good to have a black pair of leggings in your wardrobe for yoga, barre or Pilates or just wearing around town.
Bravado–Even though these are nursing bras, I love wearing them now in my pregnancy as well. The bras are comfy, supportive and the straps can be crossed in back or worn over the shoulders. It’s a great investment for working out and also to have for nursing. I could live in the body silk seamless nursing bra.
Mumberry Fit–A new line of prenatal active wear that’s has extra support for moms who really want that. I think this is a good brand for women looking for a bit more coverage.
Belly Armor–Makes a good belly band as well as some maternity tanks. They are a little looser for moms who want a comfier fit and they also have radiation protection built in to them. I find that fascinating since it’s not something I would have considered.
Belabumbum–This company I just discovered and I really love their shirttail cami yoga top. It is very flattering and comfortable. Belabumbum also makes a great jogger pant that feels like you’re wearing your most comfy pjs. I will wear these to yoga class or if I’m running errands or going to pick up Timothy from school.
I also love to wear non-maternity clothes for working out.
Lululemon–-I love lululemon’s long sleeve switfly tech shirt, it’s dry wick, non stinky and stretches well over my bump. I bought one size up in some really nice colors for Fall. I know I will still be able to wear them after I deliver the twins as well. I like that lulu’s tops and tanks are long enough to wear when pregnant. Lulu also makes a great like nothing tight that I bought in crop and long one size up and I can either pull them up over my bump or wear below. I have been avoiding buying an expensive maternity coat and found this super cute city bound wrap that I can layer over things. It’s definitely roomy enough during pregnancy and perfect for postnatal too.
NUX–I love this seamless brand of athletic wear. I lived in NUX when I was pregnant with Timothy and it’s held up great I still wear it all. The leggings are so comfortable and easy to wear over or under the bump. The sports bras are also super comfy and soft. If you want to use my ambassador code on Carbon 38 for Nux or any other brand, it’s KRISTINMCG50 for 25% off.
