My 5 Favorite Supplements!

Throughout my years as a fitness professional, personal trainer, yoga and Pilates teacher, I’ve always been fascinated with nutrition as well as supplementation. I thought as long as I am eating a healthy, well-rounded diet, I don’t really need to add anything else to my diet. There are special times in my life, though, like being pregnant with twins, training for a video shoot, making sure I stay well when I am on the road, or busy raising a toddler and doing my job which is mentally and physically exhausting. It’s hard to know just exactly what to take, what is actually well made and true to its ingredient list, and what is safe. I have recently discovered a company, BioActive Nutrients, and they have super high quality vitamins, minerals and supplements that aim to support healthy living without breaking the bank.

Guy Evans founded the company twenty years ago and enlisted his dad, a biochemist, to help him create a simple, affordable, complete dietary supplement the whole family can take. Here are my top 5 favorite supplements right now:

berry_good_greens Berry Good Greens–I really love these! Full of greens, berry and a prebiotic fiber blend, Berry Good Greens can be added to smoothies, oatmeal, pancake mix, muffins, etc. I eat a ton of fruits and veggies; but these definitely come in handy when I’m feeling depleted. It’s also an easy way to sneak more greens in to Timothy’s diet.

probiotic Strawberry Chewable Probiotics–It’s hard to find a tasty, sugar free chewable vitamin and it drives me crazy! I love chewing my vitamins like the old school Flintstones Vitamins my mom used to give us as kids; but most are loaded with sugar or glucose syrup or some form of sugar. BioActive probiotics are sugar free, really yummy (so easy for me to give to Timothy as well) and provide 4 billion CFU, a measurement of good bacteria and yeasts in probiotics. I take two of these a day, one at lunch and one at dinner.

unnamed Beyond Colostrum–This product was brand new to me. Colostrum is the nectar produced by a nursing mother before her milk comes in. If the baby can receive the colostrum, it boosts their immune system and staves off infections. BioActive has created a chewable berry flavored tablet that contains 100mg of Immunel.

complete-compmr2015-300x Complete Meal Replacement–I love having a tub of protein powder on hand always. I can mix it in my oatmeal to up my protein, make delicious smoothies with it or use it when I bake protein muffins, cookies, etc. Complete Meal Replacement is great because it has 16 grams of four different forms of protein as well as vitamins and minerals. I like to make an extra shake when I know I will have  a very active morning teaching.

b-complex Vitamin B Complex–Recently, my energy has really been flagging. I think the twins are taking up a ton of my gas. I’ve found supplementing with a B complex really helps me keep my motor running. B vitamins are essential for memory, energy production, the nervous system, digestive system and cardiovascular health.

So there you have it! In addition to the above mentioned I will take a prenatal vitamin right now while I’m pregnant. I would love to try the BioPlus once I’ve had the twins. Although, it may even be just perfect now. Guy has said pregnant women have taken BioPlus and have had incredible results even doctors were surprised.
