5 of My Favorite Probiotics
Probiotics are good bacteria that live in our intestine. They aid in proper digestion and nutrient absorption and crowd out bad bacteria helping to prevent inflammation and disease. Since our mind and body are so connected, healthy bacteria in the gut can also lead to better brain health. Popping a probiotic could actually help reduce anxiety, depression and stress and possibly even improve learning and memory.
You may want to take probiotics on a regular basis to keep your gut healthy. You will also definitely want to invest in probiotics if you’ve been on antibiotics, are going on vacation, have a weak immune system, allergies, asthma or mood disorders. Probiotics have even been shown to help prevent yeast infections.
Here are some of my top 5 recommendations:
Probiogen: Probiogen is a cool line of probiotics with seven different formulas including a daily digestive balance, women’s vitality, men’s vitality, adult 55+, weight management, allergy defense and stress & mood probiotics. Your microbiome is directly related to your body’s response to allergies. So many of your systems are actually directed by the microorganisms in your intestine. Probiogen probiotics provide friendly bacteria to help you regulate your inner ecosystem. I gave my mom and dad the adult line and I am currently testing out the daily digestive balance.
Sho Nutrition: I love Joy Wang the creator of at Sho Nutrition and her probiotics are amazing! She had a guest post recently on my site where she says, “My quest for balanced gut health led me to create a probiotic that is proven effective in promoting regularity and immunity (clinically researched by Japanese scientists): sho Balance in a portable dispenser.” Sho is vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and sugar free. Easy to swallow, access and remember, sho Balance can help you regain digestive health and balanced bliss. Use code KM20 for 20% off any of Sho’s products.
Burt’s Bees: Burt’s Bees recently introduced a collection of delicious plant-based protein powders created to target specific needs. One of the three flavors is Protein + Gut health, which in addition to having 1/3 cup fruits and vegetables per serving, it also includes Prebiotics and GanedenBC30® probiotics to help support digestive health. You can choose from chocolate or vanilla flavor and this is a great way to get your probiotics in with a healthy shake. I often have one post workout.
Olly Nutrition: For those who love chewables and need a more cost efficient option, Olly nutrition is a good choice. Olly’s Purely Probiotic was designed to support healthy digestion and immune health. They really work, and won’t break the bank. Olly’s packaging is bright and friendly too!
I think it’s good to mix it up and introduce different strains of probiotics in to your supplement plan. Do you have a favorite probiotic you take? Let me know in the comments below!
